St Lucia March 2015

Brandon and I got married in Captiva Island, Florida and immediately hopped on a plane for a week in the Caribbean! St. Lucia seemed like just the place to relax after all that wedding stress.

Kinda.

Brandon is not one to sit still so our relaxing honeymoon turned into a week packed with tours and excursions and I wouldn't have had it any other way!

Our adventure started with us landing in St Lucia and jumping on a helicopter ride to our resort! I'd love to say this was amazing but I discovered I was terrified and actually had a panic attack. (so cool)

Apparently that happens quite frequently so there was no cause for concern and I was fine within 30 minutes or so.

Pre Panic attack!

Once we landed and got to our resort we checked into Sandals Grande and ate some dinner and toured the grounds which were stunning and huge!!

Day 2 we slept in fairly late for us which was about 9am and headed out to hike Pigeon Island. There is a fort and a beautiful view that we had heard about so we grabbed our camera and headed out of the resort. It was a small fee of $6 a person to enter the park.

On our way to the entrance... beautiful waters!

Halfway up Pigeon Island

At the top looking out on the bluest water!

After reaching the top after not breaking too much of a sweat since there was a cool breeze, wee decided to check out the fort.

Haven't seen one of these in quite some time!

Pretty flowers we saw along our hike!

I'd recommend sneakers, shorts or leggings and a lightweight top for this hike as it is warm but not terribly strenuous. Definitely apply sunscreen as you will be in direct sunlight and don't forget to bring some water and a camera.

After our hike we got cleaned up and headed to a meeting with the resort where they gave us info on all of the excursions we could do while we were there!

That evening the resort was having a Caribbean Beach Night where baton twirlers, gymnasts and dancers came to entertain the guests. There was local cuisine including fresh coconuts. We added rum to ours! ;) What else could you want?

So much food!!

This led us to a fairly late but fun night and we were up early the next day for:

Day 3: Ziplining!

This was so fun! I was nervous when we were deciding what to do as I had no idea that I was going to be terrified of the helicopter and thought zip-lining at very high heights may freak me out. Our tour guy, who was hilarious, said I'd either wig out on the first one or love it and he was right... I was hooked after the first ride!

The ride out to the rainforest was a winding road and very hilly and I wish I'd taken a dramamine before we left as I thought I may be sick for about 30 minutes! (Someone else got sick which I imagine was miserable feeling)

We got all strapped up in our gear and headed out to the first of 12 platforms!

Lets just say we loved it!

The tour guides will take pictures and videos of you if you bring a camera so you can relive the thrill even after you're back on solid ground!

This was a good half day excursion and we got to drive through Castries, their capital, and the rainforest so it was a great way to see outside the resort!

Day 4 and we decided to do a boat tour around the island with JJ's Boat Tour! This was a full day of activities which included a boat around the island, snorkeling by the Pitons, a mud bath in a volcano, playing in a waterfall, local cuisine and a tour of Castries.... as well as RUM PUNCH! (Beware)

The water was freezing under the waterfall

You cover yourself in mud, Glam Glow Mud ;)

No jewelry allowed ladies!

You then rinse off in a VERY WARM spring

This tour was supposed to last until about 3pm but we didn't arrive back to our hotel until after 5! Our group was having too much fun with the locals and some people definitely missed dinner reservations!

We finally made it back to our room for a nap before dinner and woke up the next day! woops!

Day 5: R&R... Finally

I used to be the person who could sit on a beach all day long and love it. Once I met my husband that all changed. If we take a trip, even to my parent's place, we don't sit still. I love this but every now and then need some chill time.

On our 5th day we switched resorts and moved to Sandals La Toc which was just as wonderful as the Grande but with better views and a little bit more of a relaxing vibe.

We checked into our little villa complete with butler and I've never felt more diva/out of place/but loving it in my entire life.

Front of our villa! The views were breathtaking

Yes that is an outdoor bathtub!

Someone decided relaxing with some champagne wasn't SUCH a bad idea!

After checking out our room and meeting our butler we went to dinner at this beautiful outdoor restaurant called Most of the restaurants in St Lucia were open air and you would have little kitty visitors roaming around hoping someone would 'accidentally' drop some food. We seemed to attract the cats at every place we ate at... they must be able to tell I am a cat lady!

Day 6 and we figured enjoying the swim up bar would be the best idea. Sandals is in fact an all inclusive resort so you can have all the banana daiquiris you can dream of!

The pool overlooked the ocean and our butler even went out early in the morning to reserve some VIP chairs for us. I must say it was hard to go back to normal after having a butler. You mean I have to make my own dinner reservations now? ;0

We then got dressed up to head to dinner for hibachi and sushi at Kimonos! I was worried I would not be able to eat a thing as soy sauce contains wheat which means it is not gluten free. The restaurant we went to was wonderful and made everything special for me and assured it was gluten free. It was delicious and we definitely ate way too much! Food coma = sleepy time.

Day 7, our last full day we decided to roam around, eat as much food as possible and look in all the local shops. The one unfortunate thing about staying at La Toc was the shore was more choppy than the Grande so we had red flag weather and couldn't snorkel or take out the catamaran so we were forced to either taxi across the island for water activities or find something to do.

Luckily there was plenty of beautiful nature to explore as well as force Brandon to take some of my favorite instagram travels' inspired pics!

#followmeto St Lucia

Brandon is a good sport and really got into taking pictures which is good for me because I love to document all of our travels!

The beach and sand were unlike anything I had seen before and the sand felt almost spongy under your feet. It was beautiful and breathtaking to see turquoise water as far as the eye can see!

Our last night we went to a fancy French restaurant called La Toc for dinner and ate way too much food, we shut the restaurant down! Woops! Brandon. can. eat!

It was probably good this was our final night as we both had had our fair share of sun, food and missing our puppy Liam! We reluctantly went to sleep and headed out the next morning back to the airport to get home to Mr. Liam!
